Tufted poppy, 2021

Tufted Poppy (Eschscholzia caespitosa) is a common orange flower in the foothills and the Sierra Nevada of California. I took this photo at the South Yuba River State Park, on a beautiful spring morning. The hills of the park were covered with this beautiful wildflower, and I had to lie really low with my camera to get this perspective at the eye level. Tufted poppy, 2021, was featured in my self-published book “Chloroplast” (blurb.com), a photographic exploration of the world of organisms that derive energy from the sun.
