Dogwood flowers, 2022
By Alessandra Chaves
Every April, photographers walk the streets of Sacramento, California, trying to capture the beautiful Dogwood flowers that grow in the residents’ gardens. The day I went photograph these flowers, I headed to Sacramento's Capitol Mall area very early in the morning. It had rained the previous night, and I was rewarded with these beautiful, fresh, recently open flowers. Dogwood trees are classified in the genus Cornus, which contains about 50 species. In Sacramento, the white and pink dogwood flowers predominate as ornamentals.
